Hey guys I recently got some computer problems and will be unable to get on the server to play.

All I know is I put my computer on sleep left it for about ½ an hour to an hour and when I went to wake the darn thing up the CPU fan was running really fast and one of my drives was making big noise like it was banging its little head in there. No display read out on monitor. Doesn’t even boot up. I think it finally took a dump. But what the hell happened? Overheated? When I unplugged the drive the CPU fan is still full throttle. What does that indicate?

Repo, try disconnecting everything, and reconnecting it. Hopefully you have an anti-static strap, so you don't destroy anything.

If you don't have an anti-static strap, then take your shoes and socks off, and make sure some part of your body is always touching the case of the computer, so your body stays grounded, and you don't build up a static charge, which can potentially fry some electronics.

Also, try letting your computer sit off for a few hours, then turn it back on. Be sure to remove any extra hardware (i.e. video cards, modems, etc.) before you reboot the computer, in case something got corrupted (I've had a video card get corrupted, rendering it useless, and caused bizarre problems with my computer).

If that doesn't help, try looking for any blown capacitors:

If the tops are bulged a good amount, the capacitor is likely blown. If you have a decent quality camera, take some close pictures of any suspect capacitor's, and I'll tell you if they're blown, or on their way out.

I don't want to blame the my child but It's a good chance she was banging it when I was outside working.
She seems to like playing with the mouse and pressing the bright blue button when Daddy's playing on it.

Will take apart tonight and see what I can find out. Just crappy I don't have a laptop to surf the net for answers.

Okay guys I figured it out after disconnecting and reconnecting everything one at a time.

To make a long story short I will cut the chase and just say it was the graphics card. The card looks ok besides all the dust on it. I also noticed some of the part that connects “that small gold line “to the PCIE plug is missing must have broken off when I pulled it. I want to play so I am going down to not so Best Buy to grab a better one. Not gonna spend too much since the computer is going downhill.

Okay short update.

Ordered Graphics Card today via internet and should get next week some time.

In the mean time I had another problem with my awesome computer the dang sound went out, it just didn’t want to work everything was fine, the cord, monitor and drivers all okay.

I went nuts for a couple days then finally saw something on YOU TUBE about the Bios so that’s what I did and yeppers it worked!

Boy am I dying to play!!

Hey guys,
I think it’s time for me to start looking for a new computer. I have $1000.00 to spend.
I’m fed up with my snail HP.
I’m stuck on the Core I5-2500K.
I want a system that will last for another 5 years or longer.
Will mostly use it for COD and pictures/videos.
Might not over clock so I will stick to stock fan “for now”

I still need to purchase a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

You think it’s good? Only bad thing is they are out of the Memory it comes with.

In case the computer doesn't come pre-assembled, you'll want this for the CPU. Just put a small dab in the center, and put the CPU onto the motherboard. Twist it around some, to get the compound to spread out, then clamp it down for a minute, then unclamp it, and see if there's any spots the compound didn't touch. If there are spots, add a tiny bit more, until both halves are covered. You want the layer as thin as possible, to keep optimum thermal transfer.

You will need to get some pure alcohol (radioshack might have it. If not, 70% should be okay. Just give it time to evaporate). Wet a paper towel with the alcohol, and rub the processor face, to remove any foreign oils that will tamper with the thermal transfer. Start from one side of the processor, and slowly go to the other side. 5 passes should be sufficient. Use a fresh piece every time, to ensure complete removal of oils/debris.

Yeah this complete combo should be a DIY kit so this will be my 1st build. Kinda excited.

The processor should come with a stock fan with the thermal paste on it already so I shouldn’t need to put more, well I hope not.

Hey guys got an update here.

Got my Graphics card at last and last night I installed it, but something weird is happening.After I plugged it in the whole computer just slowed down to a snail’s pace for some reason and the computer says that the CPU usage is at 100%. Every click too about 1 to 2 minutes depending on what I’m doing. Spent at least 4 hours just trying to connect to the internet to download the drivers but gave up. I will have to try again tonight. scratch

Darn thing is supposed to speed up my system not slow it down. I remember my other card wasn’t this slow before the drivers were installed.

I'd e-mail them and ask if it has thermal paste, or thermal tape. If it's thermal tape, you want to get thermal paste. Thermal tape = total garbage. It's usually 50% to 75% as thermally efficient as thermal paste, which can be bad for the CPU.
